I don’t want to share any personal information. I just want to highlight how vast the gap can be between our perceptions and reality at times. This is not in support of any political party or leader; it’s simply a personal experience. In 2013, when the UPA-2 government was in power, one of my clients who professionally worked with @RahulGandhi ji suggested my name to Rahul ji for managing his Mutual Fund investments. From 2013 until today—when they have already taken the oath of victory with the support of Congress—Rahul Gandhi has been my mutual fund client.
Over these years, we’ve had numerous email conversations and spoken on the phone many times. As you know, from 2014 to 2024, I have been an open supporter of Modi. Yet, neither Rahul Gandhi nor any member of his office ever allowed this to come between our professional relationship. I’m fully confident that my social media activity and Tweets must have been in the notice of his staff. Still, they always maintained a clear distinction between my professional work and my political views.
In every conversation with Rahul ji, he has always spoken respectfully. I have never sensed any arrogance or superiority in his demeanor. Even knowing about my BJP support, a few years ago, he sought my opinion on an important professional selection. It’s possible that after this post, our professional relationship may come to an end. If that happens, it’s fine. Everything ends sooner or later.
I’m writing this only to show how mainstream media and the IT cells of political parties can completely distort any individual’s image. I don’t know Rahul Gandhi as a politician. But based on 14 years of personal experience, I can certainly say that he respects professionals and is extremely approachable and a genuinely good person in personal interactions. Don’t form opinions about any political party based solely on the image crafted by media or IT cells.
